Bobcat Breeding

Winter is the breeding season for Kiawah's elusive and normally solitary bobcats. Male bobcats will cover lots of territory during January and February in search of a mate. This increased activity often makes bobcats much more visible to island inhabitants. Female bobcats will select a den site and give birth to 1-3 kittens, starting in April.
